Richard Massingham

Richard Massingham was a trained doctor and cinema enthusiast. He had a senior position at the London Fever Hospital until 1938 when he left to transition from amateur filmmaking to full-time professional filmmaking. He created his company Public Relationship Films Ltd that same year and between the years of 1934 and 1951, he made over 23 public information films, varying from infection control to learning to swim.

Richard Massingham lived from 1898 to 1953 and achieved so much in his lifetime as a medical professional, actor, director and creative. He is remembered for his funny yet educational information films which hold a firm place in public information history, paving the way for future films to have the same quirky, memorable style.
