Charley Says: Charley and Tony

Charley says always tell your mummy before you go off somewhere”, says Tony. Hearing  “Charley says”, spoken at the end of the filler meant you were about to learn something important.

Tony and Charley are the two main characters from the beloved public information filler series Charley Says. Tony is a brown haired young boy, voiced by a young neighbour of the producer Richard Taylor. He narrates situations the two find themselves in, where Charley, the ginger cat, is usually the victim. Charley, voiced by Kenny Everett, is shown getting into peril (although on the occasion of stranger danger, it is Tony), and Charley reports in strange, garbled meows back to Tony, which Tony then interprets for the audience. Charley always has a lesson to tell after having learnt with Tony about the topic of the film.

Charley and Tony work together as two best friends, helping British children avoid everyday dangerous encounters.
